Wicking beds – solutions for small spaces

Sunday 4th August at 9 AM – 10:30 AM

In ground, off ground, on a balcony or patio, wicking beds are an ideal way of creating a low maintenance garden bed.

Otherwise known as a ‘self watering garden’, wicking beds pull water into the soil from a reservoir below. This allows plant roots to access as much water as they need, when they need it. Some of the benefits of this design are that evaporation is reduced and and your plants wont die if you forget to water!

Join our presenter, Dirk Peek as he shows you how to set up a wicking bed.

Cost: $5, please pay cash on the day or become a LDCG community garden member.

Please wear a hat, bring drinking water and sunscreen. Morning tea will be provided.

There is a driveway entrance and parking space at the grass oval on the green shed side of the garden. Better yet be kind to the environment; ride your bike, walk or catch the number 4 bus.

This event is kindly supported by a Community Benefit Fund grant.
