Get involved
Everyone is welcome to join us as we grow the Lakeside Drive Community Garden. There are many ways to be involved at LDCG, whether you like to plant trees, pick tomatoes, plan events, design and build garden structures, create art for gardens, save seeds and propagate plants, write grant applications, engage community groups and members, mow lawns – there is and/or will be something for you to join in with.
Workshop Program 2018
A series of workshops that provide hands-on knowledge & techniques about permaculture, organic gardening & sustainable living.
Workshops are held the first Sunday of every month, 9am to 10:30am. The monthly topics are advertised on our Facebook page and on our website under ‘news’.
Free for members to attend. Visitors $10 per workshop.
Working Bees
Working Bees are a great chance to get your hands dirty and learn about gardening in the tropics. Facilitated by our experienced gardeners Dirk Peek and Lia Gill, they plan activities that you can join in with, or otherwise come and do your own thing.
Working bees are a great chance to meet other members, learn practical skills and share knowledge. Past activities have included setting up a wicking bed, pruning plants, taking cuttings, planting, weeding, setting up a garden bed and mulching.
Working bees happen regularly on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sunday of the month from 4:30pm to 6pm.
You are also welcome to come down during the week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings) and help garden.
Bring along your gardening gloves, drink bottles, sunscreen and closed shoes and help us build our garden beds!
