Rapid Creek Markets is Darwin’s oldest running market, operating every Saturday and Sunday from 7am – 2pm and is the nearest thing we have to a Farmers Market.
Busy and sweaty, diverse with people and produce. Much of the produce is grown in small farms in Humpty Doo, Acacia, Howard Springs and surrounds. Often there is a mix of local and imported produce available. There is a large range of local fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, seafood, Humpty Doo honey, locally made tofu, tempeh and noodles (not from local ingredients).
Have a chat to the stall holders, they are pretty honest about what is local/spray free or not. You’ll soon get to know what is able to be grown and what you would never transport in anyway (Kang Kong – I don’t think so!) You’ll get to know who is a grower, who is a middleman and so on. The stall holders are happy to tell you the names of any unfamiliar items and will often share how they use it in their cooking. A great multicultural market. No Records Found
